DAY 1:
ZAGREB
Arrival to Zagreb. Meeting with the tour leader. Transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing with a local guide: European Square – Cathedral – Dolac – Bloody Bridge – Stone Gate – St. Mark’s Square – Lotrščak Tower – Ban Josip Jelačić Square… After exploring the beauties of the city, you will have some free time. Leaving for dinner where you will enjoy traditional dishes. Returning to the hotel. Overnight stay.
DAY 2:
SLAVONSKI BROD
After breakfast, leaving for Slavonski Brod, which is the seventh largest city in the Republic of Croatia. Upon arrival, sighteeing of the city centre, which old part is one of the largest military monument of the 18th century: the Brod Fortress, the Franciscan monastery, the House of Family Brlić. After sightseeing, leaving for lunch where you will enjoy local Slavonian specialties, which are prepared according to traditional recipes on the fire of the Slavonian oak in combination with a variety of Slavonian wines and brandies. Leaving for the hotel. Dinner with music. Overnight stay.
The most famous Slavonian culinary stars are without exception the masters of food cooked in small cauldrons: spicy fish and meat paprika stew, spit roasts, of all sizes, from small forks for grilling carp, to those majestic ones on which oxen turn overnight. Slavonia is a land of abundance and hospitality, meals are cooked for ten or even more people: Slavonians are happy and sociable people, and so is their food.
DAY 3:
ĐAKOVO
After breakfast, leaving for Đakovo, Heart of Slavonia. Firstly, we will have a look at the famous Lipizzaner “Ergela” /stud-farm/, which is one of the oldest in Europe! Leaving for the city centre, where the St. Peter’s Cathedral is located, the most important monument of the city of Đakovo and the most beautiful cathedral from Venice to Istanbul /Tsargrad/, which we will visit with a guide … In the immediate proximity of the cathedral is a wine cellar that we will visit and where you can taste famous sacramental wines of the highest quality, but also get acquainted with the history of wines of this area. Leaving for lunch where you will enjoy indigenous dishes prepared according to the the Slavonian grandmothers’ recipes, with sounds of the Slavonian tamburitza and a rich offer of wine. Returning to the hotel. Free time for rest. Dinner. Overnight stay.
The Stud Farm in Đakovo was established in 1506 which qualifies it to be among the oldest stud farms in Europe and proves a long tradition of horse breeding in this area. Horses of the Lipizzaner breed have been bred in the Stud Farm since the beginning of the 19th century.
DAY 4:
VUKOVAR - ILOK
After breakfast, leaving for Vukovar, a symbol of the Croatian independence. Sightseeing of the city centre accompanied by a local guide, followed by the journey to ILOK – a place where east and west merge, the eastern most village of the Republic of Croatia, which proudly rises above the Danube River, surrounded by the slopes of Fruška gora … Winegrowing and wineries in the Ilok Area have a continuous 1800 year-old tradition, and the beauty of this area will delight you. Sightseeing of the Osescalchi Castle, which houses the Old Ilok Cellar, which our hosts will take us to. After that, we will go on a small adventure along the Ilok Wine Road, where we will visit newer and older winery and taste several different wine varieties and liqueurs. Taking the Traminac Express tourist train to the Principovac estate, which offers magnificent views of the surrounding vineyards, Ilok and the Danube River … Going back to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
DAY 5:
BARANJA
Breakfast. After breakfast, leaving for Osijek, where we will be accompanied by a local tourist guide to see the beauties of the city. After sightseeing, going to a few kilometres away Karanac ethno village, which exudes the atmosphere of some old times and which narrates the past in a picturesque way… Enjoy the flavours of traditional Baranya dishes, after which you will visit a private winery where you can enjoy the flavours of varieties of Sauvignon wine. Chardonnay, Frankovka or Rose, Cabernet Sauvignon … Going back to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
DAY 6:
KUTJEVO
Breakfast. A drive towards the center of Slavonia, more precisely towards the city of Kutjevo, which is best known for its rich winegrowing past and present. We will visit the Kutjevo winery, where, accompanied by an expert, we will learn more about the wine production. We will take the Kutjevo wine road to get acquainted with the wine and gastronomic offer of the city, which is based on fine wines and traditional specialties. Leaving for Našice, where we will visit the Pejačević Castle, which houses the City Civic Museum. Free time. Going back to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight stay.
DAY 7:
ZAGREB
Breakfast. Checking out from the hotel and leaving for Zagreb. A pleasant ride with side stops as needed by the group. Departure from Croatia.
